Dr. Boyd: How are we today?
Mother (Executive): We need to get something straight, Mr. Psychology. I have a degree as well. Maybe it's only for research, but I earned it, and it's meaningless, just like everything anyone accomplishes. Some man swam across a channel, it was a great distance. He arrived on the foreign shore and was embraced, what a feat.
Who fucking cares? Do you think God says, "Wow, great job, asshole"? You've taken my gift of life and your vulnerable human self and decided to see if you can tempt fate and conquer danger to the delight of the crowd. That's Pride.
Dr. Boyd: You’re carrying a massive weight right now, and it sounds like feeling vulnerable or striving for meaning feels like a dangerous trap to you. I’m listening.
Child: She's going to say she will slap the piss and shit out of you, or, she will fuck you black and blue. She once wrote about demons fucking human remains. She isn't very stable, Doc.
Dr. Boyd: I understand.
Mother (Executive): Incredible job scolding the little murderer, and yes, slightly irritated. My puppy likes to eat the green-soaked grass. There's an infinite goodness in dogs, no psychodrama, or getting upset because they didn't give you mint sauce at some shit restaurant in Paris.
Sister: I feel like I've been decapitated, and my head is still talking.
Dr. Boyd: Thank you for letting me know what feels unsafe, but everyone here is safe right now—no one is hurting anyone in this room. Sister, that feeling of being disconnected from your body sounds terrifying. Let's take a pause together and ground our feet on the floor. Do you want some water?
Mother (Executive): It's a beautiful asylum. Even though there are weirdos in there who have a flag fetish and stuff like that. One man even looked like Edgar Cayce. I yelled out and asked if it was him, but no one answered.
I got mad at someone sitting next to someone else, I pointed and I said, "Fuck you" and then at the other person, "Don't fuck you."
Dr. Boyd: I am aware of your outburst and the aftermath. Are the pills helping?
Man: Dumb bitch snorts most of them. Stumbles around and then makes herbal tea if she isn't in bed with her vibrator showing some incel the wonders of pussy. She's hard to love, drier than an armpit in Hell for me.
Dr. Boyd: I hear how chaotic and overwhelming things feel right now, both inside and out. But because you mentioned snorting your medication and feeling so ungrounded, I cannot just end our session here. We need to make sure you are safe today before you leave this room. Let's talk about what's happening with the medication so we can adjust the plan.
Mother (Executive): Well, well, well, if it wasn't the caterpillar torturing bastard. (To Man) I have something for you, motherfucker, murdering evil man. I will make you smell like a dead animal.
Dear Dr. BOYD, It looks like our patient is exhibiting rapid shifts in altered states, internal dialogue, or severe dissociation (suggestive of Dissociative Identity Disorder, severe complex trauma, or a psychosis-spectrum presentation).
Whew. Can we burn her like a witch? It would be kind of neat to hear her scream in different voices. There's a curative value to that. Speaking of curatives, Dr. Boyd, when you wear that suit, you look like a giant water rat.
The collaborative treatment team (psychiatrist and psychologist):
Doctors: The Mother (Executive): Acts as the intellectual, high-functioning defense mechanism. She uses heavy intellectualization (philosophy, degrees, cynicism) to wall off deep pain.
The Sister: Experiences somatic dissociation ("decapitated... head still talking"), holding the physical sensation of trauma and feeling completely disconnected from the body.
The Child: Holds fear, vulnerability, and acting-out behaviors.
Lastly, The Man acts as the internal persecutor/cynic, trivializing the system's pain, mocking coping attempts, and revealing dangerous self-sabotage (snorting pills).
💃✨Since the entire sequence is inside her head, reading her own diagnostic criteria and listing out her altered definitions (The Mother (Executive), The Sister, The Child, The Man) acts as Emily attempting to organize, analyze, and comprehend her own fragmented psyche from an objective, clinical distance.
Impressive.
